His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in a sabda stressed that the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF, must always be sensitive to the changing geopolitical and military landscape of today, which is increasingly dynamic and challenging, apart from having a high level of education and knowledge. His Royal Highness made the sabda in conjunction with the Sovereign's Parade Ceremony of the 24th Intake of the Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy, RBAF. The ceremony took place at the Parade Square, Defence Academy, RBAF, Kampung Tanah Jambu, 15th January morning. His Royal Highness also awarded the Sword of Honour and other awards to the best Officer Cadets in each field. Accompanying His Royal Highness was His Royal Highness' brother, His Royal Highness 920 Lieutenant Colonel (Udara) Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

 

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence, and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the RBAF.

 

Shortly after arriving, His Royal Highness was accorded the Royal Salute and inspected the Guard of Honour under the command of the Parade Commander, Captain Zulhamizan bin Awang Jamil.

 

As a culmination of the Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy RBAF's intensive military training, the Sovereign's Parade Ceremony equips the newly commissioned officers with knowledge, confidence, discipline, professionalism and leadership skills.

 

The participation of the Malaysian Armed Forces, Republic of Singapore Armed Forces and the Royal Thai Armed Forces symbolises the close regional defence and friendship ties, in strengthening the position of the Officer Cadet School and the Defence Academy RBAF.

 

His Royal Highness in the sabda said the increase in participation from Armed Forces in the region, reflects the recognition given towards the training quality and raises the credibility of the Officer Cadet School.

 

His Royal Highness in the sabda stated that the updating of the Defence White Paper 2021, is actively being carried out and will be launched at the 65th RBAF Anniversary which will further strengthen the country's capabilities in facing future security challenges in a more strategic, focused and united manner.

 

His Royal Highness presented the commissions to the officer cadets.

 

The 'Sword of Honour' was awarded to Officer Cadet Nur Amanina binti Ismail.

 

The Best Academic Award was presented to Officer Cadet Jayden Lim Jie En from the Republic of Singapore.

 

Officer Cadet (Udara) Awangku Muhammad Haziq Dzulfadhly Mubarak bin Pengiran Haji Md Amir Ilham received the Best Military Skills Award.

 

Officer Cadet Muhammad Sufi Shayiran bin Roslan received the Best Physical Training Award.

 

And the Outstanding International Officer Cadet Award was presented to Officer Cadet Rizq Dzakwan bin Sharifuddin from Malaysia.

 

Doa selamat was read by Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Mujib bin Japar, Acting Director of the RBAF Religious Directorate, JAMA'AT.
